mamertino rosso web.jpeg

The Mamertino di Milazzo red is a typical wine from Messina, protected by the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) designation.

Produced in the vineyards adjacent to the winery, in the municipality of Condrò, it is made from 2 noble grape varieties: Nero d'Avola and Nocera.

The aging process involves maturation in 225-liter French oak barrels for approximately 8 months, followed by further refinement in the bottle for about 6 months.

It pairs well with red meats and game, with an alcohol content of 13.5%.

Tasting comment

How it served

bicchierevinorosso

The Mamertino di Milazzo red presents itself visually as perfectly clear with a garnet red color and a beautiful intensity.

On the nose, it has a lovely aroma with pronounced primary notes. It features hints of black wild berries such as blackberries and currants, as well as tertiary notes of smokiness, spices, and chocolate. All of these elements come together in a harmonious and elegant way.

On the palate, it is balanced, fresh, and savory. The tannins are present but not aggressive, and the aftertaste is pleasantly slightly bitter, adding depth.

It pairs well with pasta alla norma and red sauces, roasted kid and lamb, as well as important cured meats and Sicilian pecorino cheese.
